Brutalist Glass Brick Lamp by Ben Beagley
A glass brick lamp handmade by designer-maker Ben Beagley in Suffolk, using reclaimed architectural glass sourced from North Wales.
Defined by its solid, architectural form, the piece reflects a contemporary brutalist sensibility - where material, weight, and structure take precedence over ornament. The textured glass diffuses light in a soft glow that shifts throughout the day.
Each lamp is fitted with a bulb, secured by two aluminium rods and paired with a fabric cord cable and in-line switch. An impressed metal plate featuring the maker’s initials and edition number marks it as a small-batch, studio-made object.
Beagley’s practice combines traditional craftsmanship with sustainable processes. Informed by his Finnish and British heritage, his work spans woodturning, metalworking and flintknapping, with a focus on reclaimed materials.
Equally suited to a side table, shelf, or pedestal, the lamp functions as both lighting and object. Pair it with neutral, textured interiors - wood, concrete, or linen - for a considered, material-led focal point.
