Focus de Luxe Cutlery by Folke Arström
A vintage Focus de Luxe cutlery set designed in 1955 by Folke Arström for the Swedish manufacturer Gense. This iconic design is widely regarded as one of the most influential examples of tableware from the 20th century, combining clean modernist form with a distinctive material contrast.
Crafted in stainless steel with black composite handles, it introduced a bold departure from traditional silver cutlery. The matte black handles and sharply defined steel blades create a striking graphic profile while remaining comfortable and balanced in the hand.
The design received international recognition when it was hailed by the New York Times as one of the 100 best-designed products in modern times and voted the most influential design of the 20th Century at the Los Angeles International Design Exhibition in 1961. Today the Focus de Luxe series remains a celebrated example of industrial design and a hallmark of mid-century Scandinavian tableware.
