G-Plan Drop Leaf Coffee Table by Richard Young

A rare mid-century coffee table designed by Richard Young for G-Plan, crafted in teak during the 1960s. Combining practicality with refined mid-century styling, this model features a sliding ebonised drop-leaf section that can be raised when additional surface space is required, along with an integrated book rack beneath. The contrasting black finish of the leaf creates a striking visual detail, echoing the ebonised accents sometimes seen in mid-century interiors of the period.

The warm tone and grain of the teak give the piece a quiet presence, typical of the restrained design language that defined British furniture of the period. Functional without feeling utilitarian, it works equally well as a centrepiece in a living room or as a flexible surface in smaller, adaptable spaces.
